Journey to Rest Ministry was birthed in my heart in November of 2004. During this season of my life, the Lord began to open my eyes to a profound truth. At that point in my life I very rarely took the time to actually just be still and spend time in God's presence. All of the things I did were in the name of the Lord, but my schedule was so packed, I rarely had time to get to know the One I was serving. Then I began to observe my friends and the people around me. I realized that I was not the only one striving to keep up with an adrenaline fueled, stress packed life. As God opened my eyes to the striving in my own life, and all around me, He also began to open my eyes to a ministry of Rest that had been with me for years; my harp. The harp is a unique instrument. Since biblical times it has been used for worship (1 Ch 25:3) and even to soothe the hearts of troubled kings (1 Sam 16:16-23). I began to view my harp as a means to come quietly before the Lord and Rest in worship before His throne. As I spent time in His Presence, worshiping in quiet song, God began to restore my soul, He also continued to work in my heart, and open my eyes to this same need around me. At first I was hesitant to share the gift God gave me, convinced I was the only one who would benefit from it. But the more I stepped out in faith, the more God opened my eyes to see the way His Holy Spirit ministers to all people, of all ages, in an amazing, unique way through the harp. Mothers with energetic toddlers, high school students with hectic school schedules, families grieving after the loss of a loved one, and even people on a busy street corner in the Bronx, NY, have all stopped to share with me the way God ministered to them, at their point of need, through this precious gift of worship on the harp. Journey to Rest seeks to provide an atmosphere where individuals can come by themselves, or corporately, and simply rest in the presence of the Almighty God. My desire is to come before Him with a pure heart and bring Him the glory and honor that He is worthy of. I invite you to join with me, lay aside the distractions of the world, and come to that place of Rest found only in His Awesome Presence.
